Dr. William L.
Blevins, Professor of Counseling and Director of the
MEd
program in counseling at
Carson-Newman College, has joined the board of directors of the SafeHarbor
Child Advocacy Center serving child-victims of sexual abuse, physical abuse
and neglect. Dr. Blevins is a regular contributor to The Standard
Banner with his
Family Matters segment in the Thursday editions,
focusing on family-related issues.
Barry Fain, a spokesperson and charter board member with
SafeHarbor, states, “Dr. Blevins is a superb addition to our
efforts. We wanted to make sure that we have a well-rounded
representation of the disciplines needed to properly
serve the child-victims of abuse in our area. And, Dr. Blevins’
background provides for wonderful
representation of the mental health field.” In addition to Dr.
Blevins’ career at Carson-Newman, he brings considerable experience
from his years in private practice and as the Director of Barnabas
Counseling/Resource Center. “Dr. Blevins was approved by a unanimous vote of the board members
present at our November 10th board meeting”, notes Fain.
“Dr.
Blevins is the third and final board member representing our Jefferson County
delegation to the SafeHarbor board”, concludes Fain. Blevins will
be representing Jefferson County on the SafeHarbor board with Barry Fain and Arthur “Milo” Bohannon.
