Safe Harbor Child Advocacy Center

    Lady Vols head coach Pat Summitt headlined the event at the Music Road Hotel and Convention Center. Funds are being raised to build a facility in Sevierville that would provide a home-like atmosphere for helping children suspected of being abused or neglected.

    "We're thrilled with that," Executive Director Donna Koester said. "A good time was had by all. We raised a lot of money. Coach Summitt was awesome and really spoke from the heart. She is really committed to seeing that Safe Harbor is built and fully staffed and serving children."
    Safe Harbor will serve children in the 4th Judicial District, which covers Cocke, Grainger, Jefferson and Sevier counties.
    "We're ready to start serving kids, but we have to find a place to do it," Koester said. "We're ready to start looking for a temporary facility."
    In the early fall, Tennessee's First Lady Andrea Conte will hold a fund-raiser in Sevier County to benefit Safe Harbor.
    The event featured a live auction.
